Agua Segura in the world

Reference projects

Learn about some of Agua Segura’s most notable projects that illustrate our commitment to water solutions.

Sustainable soil management

The primary goal of this project was to enhance water security and ecological integrity of local ecosystems, within the framework of water offsetting by a company with local operations. The project involved implementing improvements in agricultural practices to increase the soil’s capacity to capture rainwater and recharge aquifers. These soil restoration techniques increased infiltration, reduced runoff and erosion, and strengthened both agricultural productivity and the resilience of local communities.

Water Positive

To increase water supply and address water quality issues in Curacaví community in Chile, this project was implemented with two key components: 1) Installation of a well that increased supply and improved water quality by reducing nitrate concentrations, and 2) Implementation of educational workshops to reinforce water conservation and hygiene practices.

Seeking Water Balance in Agriculture

This project addresses the high water demand of agriculture, which consumes 84% of the annual water allocation, focusing on three actions to improve irrigation efficiency and achieve significant water savings:
Land Leveling: Optimizing the landscape to reduce water wastage during irrigation.
Technical Assistance: Providing small-scale farmers with knowledge and tools to enhance water use efficiency.
Support and Monitoring: Offering continuous guidance for producers to ensure sustainable water management practices. This eight-year project will impact 50 hectares, with an estimated volumetric benefit of over 196,000 cubic meters per year.

Natural Springs Proteciton

We are working with producers to raise awareness about water conservation and address the challenge of developing efficient solutions to improve water quality through spring protection. We have implemented protective and sanitation works for springs used by production units as sources of domestic water. Four intervention models were developed and applied based on the specific characteristics of each spring surveyed. All models are based on the encapsulation of underground springs using onsite concrete walls.

Amazon Project

Aiming to reduce childhood diarrhea, the project enhanced access to safe water in vulnerable Amazon communities through the distribution of community filters, improving the quality of water consumed by local families. The filters were designed to treat river, well, and rainwater, benefiting 46 communities. In addition to the installation of the filters, hygiene and maintenance workshops were conducted to ensure proper management by the communities.

Access and Quality of Water

This project focused on improving water access and quality in vulnerable communities in the northern area of Greater Buenos Aires. Ultrafiltration technologies were installed in community centers, infrastructure works were carried out for rainwater harvesting to irrigate gardens and safely store drinking water, and natural springs were protected in Misiones. In addition, corporate volunteers played a key role in the implementations and in workshops with the communities.
